Ishaia, mandala earrings in sterling silver
These earrings are made of sterling silver (925) made by hand in my workshop.
These earrings are based on a pattern of a oriental floral mandala. Mandala is a Sanskrit word which means circle or circumference and by extension, the environment, community. It is a universal art that is found in many cultures around the world but is particularly present in Indian cultures.
It is found in Buddhism as a support for meditation with varied symbols that are sometimes part of the offerings. In Hinduism, it is the door of communication with the gods.
This finely engraved mandala represents a flower and petals. It was cut more or less circular to follow the contours of floral pattern. I then suspended a pearl teardrop silver.
They are artisan etched. The etching process takes times but the result allows appreciating the intricate and delicate patterns. The bas relief effect is really nice. The deep part is matte and the upper part has been sanded and polished. Shiny finish.
Etching is an artisanal process which produces a unique design each time I use it. Two pairs with a same design will never be exactly the same by the hazards of the process. Each detail makes a unique piece.
They measure 5cm long (1.968 inches).
The mandala is 2 cm in diameter (0.787 inches).
The ear wires are also made of sterling silver.
You have the possibility of changing the classical sterling silver eawires by sterling silver clips for non-pierced ears.
