CUSTOM ORDER JEWELRY
This ring was made of sterling silver (925) made by hand in my workshop.
The pattern comes from a vegetal illumination from the Middle-Ages. This kind of pattern was mostly developed during the medieval period. It is mainly the monks who used illumination to decorate manuscript books, including Bibles. There are also many vegetal patterns (as for our ring scriptor), real or imaginary animals, letters or initials, figurative scenes... It is a very fine and precise work that I wanted to recreate in this ring.
I named it scriptor that comes from the Latin "the one who writes" and by extension, author, writer, editor. This is a reference to those illuminators who made such intricate patterns.
Scriptor shows etched intertwined plants. I then hand sawed the ring following the pattern of the design giving it a lace style (embroidery effect).
It is artisan etched. The etching process takes times but the result allows appreciating the intricate and delicate patterns. The bas relief effect is really nice. The deeper part is matte and the upper part has been sanded and polished. Shiny finish.
Etching is an artisanal process which produces a unique design each time I use it. Two pieces with a same design will never be exactly the same by the hazards of the process. Each detail makes a unique piece.
Polished finish shiny.
Sample size: 6 3/4.
Width of the band: 10 mm (0.394 inches).
It will fit at least a half size to a full size smaller than your regular ring size.
As I currently dwell in Mexico, provide a period of 2 to 5 weeks to receive your order.
Thank you, see you soon!
