Sherlock Holmes, Neo-Victorian steampunk gear ring in silver and garnet
This ring was made of sterling silver (925) made by hand in my workshop.
It was inspired by the neo Victorian steampunk theme. This style, also known as "retro-futuristic", is a modernization of the clothing style of the Victorian era (of the great industrialization era). It came with the imaginary world of steampunk. In the latter, it is considered that the technology has continued developing on the basis of steam from the Victorian era. Thus, we find the devices of the present modern world but driven by the energy that involves visible gears and piping. This is a fascinating fantasy world due to its fashion (like the steampunk cosplay), but also thanks to its history that inspires some of my jewelry.
I named this ring "the Sherlock Holmes ring" since it is an important character in the steampunk literature. This iconic character of the Victorian era was recovered and adapted to the world of science fiction. I imagine quite well a Sherlock Holmes wearing this ring with this deep red blood garnet that is as deep as his reflection.
This ring was made with the same design that my Steampunk ring in my shop. However, this model is made with a garnet trillion with a deep red color.
It is artisan etched. The etching process takes times but the result allows appreciating the intricate and delicate patterns. The bas relief effect is really nice. The deeper part is matte and the upper part has been sanded and polished. Shiny finish.
Etching is an artisanal process which produces a unique design each time I use it. Two pieces with a same design will never be exactly the same by the hazards of the process. Each detail makes a unique piece.
The band is 12 mm large (0.394 inches).
Bright polished finish.
Thickness of the ring: this model can be made with thicknesses of 1 mm, 1.3 mm or 1.6 mm. For reference, go to the last photo of the slideshow.
The ring thickness on the model is 1mm.
