Hesperidia, butterfly earrings in sterling silver

The "Hesperiidae" earrings evoke the ethereal grace of these winged creatures that have fascinated for centuries. Butterflies, symbols of transformation and ephemeral beauty, inspire a sense of wonder and connection with the surrounding nature.

The Hesperiidae family, described in 1793 and named after nymphs from Greek mythology, embodies the spirit of nature and divine beauty. These butterflies, small and sturdy, are distinguished by their distinct antennae and unbranched veins on the wings, testifying to their uniqueness.

If butterflies captivate the human imagination so much, it is also because of the rich symbolism that surrounds them. Symbols of transformation and growth, they embody the cycle of life, transitioning from egg to caterpillar, then from cocoon to butterfly, offering a lesson in rebirth and perpetual renewal.

In Japanese culture, the butterfly is associated with the soul, representing the connection between the living and the dead, while among Native Americans of the North, it is seen as a spiritual guide bringing change and joy despite hardships.

In Greek mythology, the butterfly was linked to Psyche, the goddess of the soul, symbolizing spiritual transformation, love, and rebirth. These earrings, with their delicate butterflies, pay homage to this rich symbolism and the fleeting beauty of nature.

Each butterfly, meticulously sawed by hand and hammered to give it volume and subtle reflections in the light, is a work of art in itself, capturing the grace and elegance of the butterfly world. By wearing them, you carry with you a piece of this enchanting universe, an invitation to contemplate the magic of transformation and to celebrate the fleeting beauty of life.

They measure 2 x 2.5cm long.

The ear wires are also hand forged by myself in sterling silver and soldered on the back.

They have been polished.
