Odin, Scandinavian Celtic earrings of Odin horns in sterling silver

They are made of sterling silver (925) handmade in my workshop.

These earrings have a touch of inspiration from the Norse culture, Celtic and Scandinavian.
They represent the horns of Odin, in symbolic form in the center, surrounded by Celtic knots.
Horn, triple horn or horned triskele, of Odin consists of three three drinking horns intertwined, forming one of the attributes of the father of the Norse gods. Their story is told in the Edda of Snorri. In summary, they represent the two tanks and the pot that contained the blood of the wise god Kvasir: Són (blood) Boðn (container) and Odroerir (the one that excites the mind). His blood mixed with honey helped to create the Mead of Poetry (skáldskaparmjöðr) which allows the drinker to become skald and learned.
In the poem, Hávamál is told how Odin steals the beverage to the giant Suttung by tricking her daughter Gunnlod. He needed three days to seduce and thus be allowed to drink three sips, also recall that these horns. Each gorged of Odin was a full container, and so he ran away as an eagle, with all the magical mead.
Therefore, this symbol represent wisdom, inspiration and eloquence of the mythological Scandinavian god.

They are artisan etched. The etching process takes times but the result allows appreciating the intricate and delicate patterns. The bas relief effect is really nice. The deep part is matte and the upper part has been sanded and polished. Shiny finish.

Etching is an artisanal process which produces a unique design each time I use it. Two pairs with a same design will never be exactly the same by the hazards of the process. Each detail makes a unique piece.

They measure 4.3cm long (1.693 inches).

The ear wires are also hand forged by myself in sterling silver.

You have the possibility of changing the classical sterling silver eawires by sterling silver clips for non pierced ears.
Please check the last photo to see the clips or you can also check our page about non pierced ears.
