CUSTOM ORDER JEWELRY
It is made of sterling silver (925) made by hand in my workshop and of a carnelian cabochon.
This ring shows a floral and vegetal design. I called it Cherry because of this wonderful red color that reminds me of this summer fruit.
Cherry is a sweet fruit full of symbols, ranging from purity to eroticism. In fact in the Far East cherry is the symbol of purity and bliss. In the Japanese tradition, cherry is the emblem of the samurai. It symbolizes happiness, purity and inner beauty. It represents the life principles of the samurai warrior. Like the cherry blossom falls from the tree before fading (so at its most beautiful aspect), the warrior must know how to die in the battle, and sacrifice himself, even being young.
But "that hussy" was part of the vocabulary of gallantry and seduction (especially in the seventeenth century salons). Moreover, this little fruit goes much further since in the countryside popular tradition, men laid a branch of cherry blossom on the doorstep of the house of a girl who was hardly shy. In Quebec, the expression "to lose one’s cherry" means that a girl lost her virginity.
I bezel set a red carnelian cabochon in the center. Petals and small sterling silver balls are soldered all around the stone to symbolize the tail of this pretty fruit.
The hammered ring is 2 mm wide (0.078 inches).
Surface: 1 x 1.2cm (0.393 x 0.472 inches).
Size: 6 3/4 US.
