This pendant is made of sterling silver (925) made by hand in my workshop.
This pendant is inspired by the third ancient art of the Japan, the ritual incense. Brought to Japan by Buddhist monks in the sixth century for purification ceremonies, incense became an object of refinement and fun for the nobles of the Imperial court. In the XIV century, samurais perfumed their armor with incense to create an unbeaten protection. In the fifteenth century, high quality incense (Koh) became all a real art with its rituals, competitions... It is supposed to bring peace of mind, as well as opening a higher temporal and spiritual awareness.
There are all kinds of flavors, including many flowers, hence the choice to name this pendant Hananoka or flower incense in Japanese.
Therefore, I thought this pendant as a space to perform the ritual of incense, with all the rigor and dedications recognized at Japanese. Everything is in its place, organized, to create an atmosphere of perfect peace.
We thus find in this space: containers, flowers and petals to prepare the incense sticks. Everything is ready to make the mix that will make traveling spirit in this world of flavors.
Polished and matte finish.
The surface is about 2 x 2.6 cm.
