CUSTOM ORDER JEWELRY
They are made of sterling silver (925) handmade in my studio.
These earrings are etched with a pattern called Paisley or cashmere, typical of Iranian art. This plant pattern comma-shaped, also known boteh, evoke a drop or the canopy of cypress. Some see the tongue of fire of Zarathustra (or Zoroaster) Iranian prophet and founder of Zoroastrianism. Others propose a tear of Buddha or a pine cone. What seems certain is that this pattern is related to flowers since boteh means "flower bouquet" in Persian.
Beyond this omnipresent pattern in the Iranian culture, I cut these earrings to give them an elegant form through curves reminiscent of the elegance of oriental architecture and oriental women.
It is artisan etched. The etching process takes times but the result allows appreciating the intricate and delicate patterns. The bas relief effect is really nice. The deeper part is oxidized and the upper part has been sanded and polished.
Etching is an artisanal process, which produces a unique design each time I use it. Two pieces with a same design will never be exactly the same by the hazards of the process. Each detail makes a unique piece.
They were hand sawed. The ear wires are soldered at the back of the earrings and were decorated with tiny sterling silver beads.
Length: 2.36 inch (6 cm).
