JEWELRY
INSPIRATION
The Camellia earrings draw their inspiration from the deep red hue of their garnet cabochons, reminiscent of vivid camellia blossoms blooming in a childhood garden. This jewel is like a memory worn close to the skin — a living trace of intimacy, an homage to familiar, heartfelt beauty.
At the heart of the design sits a round garnet cabochon with glowing crimson reflections, delicately set onto a finely hand-cut silver plate. This irregular silver backing follows the graceful contours of a stylized floral motif: petals, leaves, and buds intertwine in an organic flow, as if capturing a flower in full bloom.
The camellia is a shrub native to Asia, celebrated for its winter blooming and evergreen foliage. Its symbolism varies across cultures. In the West, it represents grace and deep admiration. The red camellia, in particular, expresses devoted love and passionate loyalty in the language of flowers.
In Japan, the camellia (tsubaki) carries powerful cultural meaning. A sacred imperial symbol, it was also closely associated with the samurai, who saw in the silent fall of its flowers a poignant metaphor for the fleeting nature of life. In China, Camellia sinensis — the tea tree — symbolizes spring’s renewal, longevity, good fortune, and marital harmony.
Garnet itself is rich in symbolism as well: a stone of passion and grounding, it awakens vitality, supports heartfelt courage, and nourishes the inner flame.
This pair of earrings is a quiet tribute to the beauty of memory and the strength of symbols. If you’re drawn to jewelry inspired by flowers, nature, and distant cultures, Camellia will be a meaningful and poetic companion — refined, evocative, and full of soul.
