Wedding Anniversaries and Jewelry

The symbolic meanings of each wedding anniversary
  • The symbolic meanings of each wedding anniversary
Over the years spent together
Over the years spent together, a deep bond and sense of complementarity grow within a couple, enriching their lives each and every day

The celebration of wedding anniversaries is a tradition observed in many countries, and some of our jewelry pieces can symbolically accompany this special event. Each year of marriage is associated with a material — vegetal, animal, or mineral — and sometimes with a flower, a tree, a metal, or a fabric, all of which inspire the choice of commemorative gift. This celebration can take place privately between the couple or take the form of a larger family gathering. It is sometimes an opportunity to renew wedding vows, to reflect on the journey shared together, and to rekindle the bonds that unite the spouses.

The exact origin of the wedding anniversary list remains uncertain. Some trace it back to the time of the Roman Empire, where couples reaching 25 or 50 years of marriage were offered gifts. Silver wedding anniversaries marked 25 years of union, symbolized by a silver crown offered to the wife, while 50 years were celebrated with a golden crown — hence the still widely used terms “silver wedding” and “golden wedding.”

The tradition appears to have persisted in Germanic regions during the Middle Ages, particularly in Germany, where such celebrations became rooted in local customs. It then gradually spread across Europe. In France, one of the earliest mentions of wedding anniversaries can be found in the Encyclopédie ou Dictionnaire raisonné des sciences, des arts et des métiers, published between 1751 and 1772, which describes it as the anniversary of the religious sacrament of marriage.

In 1783, another work, Cérémonies et coutumes religieuses de tous les peuples du monde, refers to the silver and golden anniversaries among Calvinists, confirming that this practice was already well established within certain Protestant communities.

Long confined to social elites, the tradition reached the English and French bourgeoisie during the 19th century. It began appearing in almanacs and popular press, with lists specifying the symbols associated with each year of marriage, from the first to the hundredth. These lists, which often vary depending on the source and the country, have continued to evolve over time.

Over the decades, the practice has become democratized and even extended to other types of anniversaries: years of service in a company or administration, involvement in an association, an artistic or political career, or even the length of a reign. In each of these contexts, the chosen symbols serve to mark the passage of time, to honor loyalty, perseverance, or memory.

The symbolic meanings of each wedding anniversary

1 year: Cotton wedding anniversary

Cotton symbolizes the softness, purity, and flexibility of a budding union. It is a light, soft material, yet surprisingly strong—much like new love, which patiently grows day by day. It evokes tenderness, mutual adjustments, and the couple’s ability to adapt to one another. Its whiteness also recalls the innocence of early romantic feelings and the promise of a future to be woven together.

2 years: Leather wedding anniversary

Leather represents strength, flexibility, and the endurance of a bond that is growing stronger. This material, both firm and supple, reflects a relationship that has already weathered daily life while remaining adaptable. Leather protects and envelops—much like small acts of care within a couple. It symbolizes a connection beginning to take shape, softened by time, ready to face new challenges with resilience and togetherness.

We do not directly work with leather. However, some of our pieces—such as our bracelets or pendants—are offered with genuine leather cords. You can discover them in our collections available on the website.

3 years: Wheat wedding anniversary

The wheat anniversary celebrates prosperity, growth, and fertility. Wheat, a fundamental nourishing grain, symbolizes the solid foundation the couple has built over these first three years. Like a field carefully sown, the relationship has been nurtured, protected, and allowed to take root and bear its first fruits. This milestone reminds us that marital happiness is like a harvest: cultivated with patience, effort, and care. Wheat also evokes abundance, shared projects, and the importance of building a home that nourishes both heart and soul.

4 years: Wax wedding anniversary

Wax is a malleable substance that melts and transforms under heat, reflecting how a couple evolves over time. This anniversary symbolizes adaptability, the fluid nature of emotions, and the need to shape the relationship together, year after year. Wax also brings to mind candles—often lit during symbolic or solemn moments: they illuminate celebrations, mark moments of reflection, and cast a gentle, enduring light in the darkness. This flame represents passion, the warmth of affection, and the vigilance love requires—a flame that must be continually fed so it does not flicker out.
In nature, wax is produced by bees to build their hive—a space of collective life and cooperation. This parallel suggests that, like bees, the couple is gradually building a shared place of safety, creativity, and mutual growth.

We do not offer wax on our site. However, you can find creations that evoke this world. For example, some of our pieces feature bees—nature’s wax producers. The bee, a symbol of hard work, prosperity, and connection to the natural world, represents cooperation and the richness of ecosystems. Another option is to choose a cabochon in Bumblebee jasper, a natural stone whose vibrant yellow, orange, and black tones recall the bee’s iconic colors, while also evoking harmony and positive energy.

Textured wood ring
Textured wood ring

5 years: Wood wedding anniversary

The wood anniversary celebrates solidity, maturity, and the deep roots of a relationship. Wood is a living, natural material—both resilient and flexible. It symbolizes organic growth, slow but steady, as seasons are shared. After five years together, the relationship has found its rhythm, anchored in daily life, and built a stable foundation. Like a tree drawing strength from the earth and reaching skyward, the couple has rooted itself, consolidated its base, and is now ready to grow with confidence. Wood also evokes the warmth of the home, shared construction, and the ability to weather life’s storms together.

6 years: Cyprus wedding anniversary

The Cyprus anniversary is among the most poetic and mysterious. The word “chypre” refers to a family of woody and complex perfumes, often composed of oakmoss, patchouli, bergamot, and floral notes. It is a fragrance of elegance, depth, and sensuality, evoking the richness of emotions and the intensity of feelings that have developed over the years.
This anniversary symbolizes a relationship that has become more subtle and refined—like a scent that lingers and evolves with time and contact. Chypre perfumes, made from tree resins, also suggest durability, nobility, and the depth of a mature love. It is an invitation to see one another anew, to rediscover wonder, and to explore the richness of a bond that has become deeply personal.

7 years: Wool wedding anniversary

The wool anniversary marks a stage where warmth, gentleness, and resilience begin to weave a protective cocoon around the couple. Wool, a natural fiber from sheep, represents a raw, authentic love—sometimes a little rough, like an old sweater that itches, but that we would never part with because it warms us like no other.
It speaks to the ability to comfort one another when life grows colder, to offer warmth in adversity. Wool is also a material crafted with patience and care: stitch by stitch, the couple’s story takes shape, is knitted together, combining strength and flexibility as it adapts to the changing forms of shared life.

Poppy ring
Poppy ring for the 8th wedding anniversary

8 years: Poppy wedding anniversary

The poppy anniversary celebrates passionate, vibrant love—yet also love that is delicate and fleeting. The poppy, with its vivid red petals and fragile stem, evokes both the striking beauty of the present moment and the need to preserve it.
A symbol of spontaneity, tenderness, and lightness, this flower reminds us of the importance of nurturing affection, small thoughtful gestures, and sincere impulses. It tells us that love, like poppies in a field, may appear fragile—but is capable of blooming brightly again when least expected. This milestone is a time to reaffirm the vitality of the bond, rekindle passion, and celebrate the grace of something rare and precious.

9 years: Faience wedding anniversary

The faience anniversary reminds us that even after nine years together, love can remain delicate and must be handled with care. Faience, beautiful yet fragile, reflects the finesse of a relationship shaped over time, but always susceptible to cracks if not tended to gently.
Crafting faience objects requires time, mastery, and great patience. Like the earth it’s made from, marriage is not easily molded—it demands flexibility and adaptation to life’s uncertainties. At this point, tensions or routines may arise, but they are not an end in themselves—they are reminders of the need for dialogue, to smooth rough edges without breaking what has been built. This anniversary highlights the importance of continuing to sculpt the future together, even through life’s more fragile passages.

10 years: Tin wedding anniversary

Ten years of love, shared dreams, and challenges overcome… The tin anniversary celebrates a union forged over time. Tin, a malleable yet durable metal, illustrates the couple’s ability to adapt without breaking, to evolve without losing their essence.
This metal is often used to protect and strengthen other materials—symbolizing the protective role of the relationship. It becomes a strong alloy, resistant to the tests of time and life. After a decade together, the bond has matured: it is no longer fragile, but stable, while still retaining the flexibility needed for partners to keep adjusting to each other. The tin anniversary marks a turning point: the end of the beginning, and the beginning of a new decade of shared intimacy.

Under the berries earrings

11 years: Coral wedding anniversary

Coral, both rare and precious, evokes natural beauty, protection, and the depth of a rooted love. It is not a stone but a living organism—fragile yet resilient—that grows slowly in the depths of the sea, often as part of a vast communal reef. Like a couple, it develops over time, patiently, nourished by balance and mutual support.
The coral anniversary celebrates a mature love, shaped by a wealth of experiences, a diversity of emotions, and countless shared moments. Just as coral creates vibrant ecosystems, a relationship after eleven years is held together by invisible yet essential elements: complicity, shared memories, and trust.
In ancient traditions, coral was also a protective talisman, often given as a token of enduring love. It embodies the quiet strength of a bond that, though sensitive to life’s storms, endures thanks to its flexibility and its power of renewal.

12 years: Silk wedding anniversary

Silk, a noble and delicate material, is the result of a long transformation process. It symbolizes patience, refinement, and grace acquired over time. Much like the silkworm’s cocoon, the couple has slowly woven its bond in intimacy, each thread added with care and tenderness.
This natural fiber, both soft and strong, represents the subtle balance between gentleness and resilience—qualities essential to lasting love. It takes many threads to make a strong fabric, just as it takes countless memories, shared gestures, compromises, and heartfelt efforts to build a deep, rich relationship.
The silk anniversary marks a stage where love becomes more fluid and elegant, glowing with quiet harmony. It celebrates a mature union, radiant in its mutual understanding, and precious for all that has been woven together through the years.

Lily of the Valley Ring
Lily of the Valley ring, symbol of the 13th wedding anniversary

13 years: Lily of the valley wedding anniversary

Lily of the valley, a delicate flower heralding spring’s return, embodies renewal, hope, and the freshness of feeling. A symbol of purity, humility, tenderness, and kindness, it reflects a gentle, discreet, but sincere love that continues to blossom with each passing season.
The lily of the valley anniversary is a reminder that even after thirteen years together, love can still bloom anew, be refreshed, and offer surprise. Like the flower itself, it must be handled with care, sheltered from the storms, and given the light it needs to grow.
This milestone is also a nod to good fortune—the joy of having found one another, of having chosen each other, and of continuing to walk side by side with confidence and optimism into the future.

14 years: Lead wedding anniversary

Lead, a dense, malleable, and enduring metal, represents the inner strength of the couple, forged by years of shared experiences and challenges. Though less dazzling than other metals, it conveys a quiet power, a resistance to adversity, and an ability to adapt without breaking.
The lead anniversary underscores the importance of resilience and adaptability in a lasting relationship. After fourteen years, a couple has likely weathered many storms, but those very challenges have strengthened the foundations of their bond.
Just as lead was once used to reinforce and protect buildings, your love has become a strong pillar, capable of supporting the future and withstanding uncertainty. It is the time to celebrate the quiet solidity of a bond built day by day, in loyalty, perseverance, and trust.

Hanging Garden Necklace
Hanging Garden necklace with phantom quartz for the 15th wedding anniversary

15 years: Crystal wedding anniversary

Crystal, a noble material that is both pure and radiant, symbolizes transparency, sincerity, and the delicacy of a relationship built patiently over time. Both strong and fragile, it reminds us that love, even after fifteen years, should be cherished, respected, and protected.
Crystal reflects light just as mature love reflects shared experiences, woven memories, and the clarity of a bond free of illusion. This fifteenth anniversary is a precious moment to admire the beauty of all that has been built, while remaining attentive to the sensitivity of this connection.
It is a time to truly see the brilliance of your shared story, and to celebrate a luminous, refined, and ever-vibrant union.
We do not currently offer jewelry with crystal in the strict sense, but certain stones come close—such as phantom quartz, whose transparent matrix evokes crystal, with beautiful golden or reddish inclusions. These natural formations, sometimes like veils, tips, or inner clouds, make each stone unique. Other varieties, like rutilated quartz with its fine golden threads, can also recall the raw beauty of crystal.

Pink Primrose Necklace
Pink Primrose necklace with pink sapphire for the 16th wedding anniversary

16 years: Sapphire wedding anniversary

Sapphire, a precious stone of deep tones, is traditionally associated with wisdom, loyalty, and inner peace. It embodies stability and the quiet strength of a love that has endured with constancy and devotion.
This sixteenth year symbolizes a bond rooted in mutual trust, where emotions have gained in depth while becoming more serene. Like sapphire, which withstands time without losing its glow, your relationship has grown richer with understanding, respect, and intimacy.
The sapphire anniversary celebrates a genuine union, where love is no longer just passion, but also refuge, grounding, and a quiet promise of forever.

Rose Ring
Rose ring for the 17th wedding anniversary

17 years: Rose wedding anniversary

The rose, queen of flowers, embodies love in all its forms—passion, tenderness, admiration, and fidelity. At seventeen years of marriage, your relationship resembles a rose in full bloom, shaped by every season endured.
While the red rose stands for passionate love, other colors reflect the shades of your union: white for purity, pink for gratitude and gentleness, orange for enthusiasm.
Each petal is a memory; each thorn, a challenge overcome together. These contrasts—beauty and pain, strength and vulnerability—create the richness of your story. Celebrating the rose anniversary is about honoring the delicacy and depth of a love that has flourished with elegance and perseverance.

Solar Earrings
Solar earrings with turquoise for the 18th wedding anniversary

18 years: Turquoise wedding anniversary

Turquoise, a sacred stone in many cultures, fosters honest communication, inner peace, and protection. After eighteen years together, it symbolizes a serene love, strengthened by challenges yet open to new horizons.
Its sky-and-sea color suggests the vast possibilities that still lie ahead: travels, shared projects, and renewed dreams. It reflects a couple that, having built a strong foundation, continues to move forward with confidence and calm.
The turquoise anniversary invites you to celebrate a union that has grown in honesty, connection, and kindness—and that looks to the future with steady, hopeful energy.

19 years: Cretonne wedding anniversary

Cretonne is a thick cotton fabric, durable and commonly used to bring warmth and practicality to the home. It conveys a quiet strength, a comforting presence in daily life.
After nineteen years of marriage, cretonne symbolizes a love woven over time, strengthened by shared habits and obstacles overcome. It is the fabric of everyday life—those seemingly uneventful days that are nonetheless essential to building a lasting story.
The cretonne anniversary celebrates a well-rooted, faithful relationship, offering comfort and shelter—like a fabric that clothes, wraps, and endures.

20 years: Porcelain wedding anniversary

Porcelain, noble and luminous, is both fine and resilient. Its delicate beauty masks a surprising strength, acquired through a slow, demanding process: firing at extremely high temperatures.
So too is your relationship—shaped and polished over two decades, sometimes tested, yet enriched with brilliance, nuance, and depth. Every shared moment has contributed to the refinement of your bond.
The porcelain anniversary marks an important milestone, celebrating the mature beauty of a love that has remained delicate without breaking, and the strength of a union nourished by care, patience, and mutual respect.

The swamp that reflected the stars ring
The swamp that reflected the stars, with an opal – symbol of the 21st wedding anniversary

21 years: Opal wedding anniversary

Opal is a captivating semi-precious stone, celebrated for its ability to diffract light and reveal a dazzling play of colors. It beautifully embodies 21 years of shared life, filled with shifting tones, unexpected reflections, and deep emotions. Opal symbolizes sincere love, but also the complexity of feelings and the richness of experiences shared over time. After more than two decades, a marriage is never static — it evolves and transforms, just like opal, which changes with the angle and light. The opal anniversary thus celebrates a vibrant love, one that reflects every nuance of a life lived together — tenderness, passion, trials, light, and mystery.

22 years: Bronze wedding anniversary

Bronze, an ancient alloy of copper and tin, is both strong and malleable, durable yet shapeable. It symbolizes a balanced union, built on adaptability, complementarity, and resilience. After 22 years, couples have learned to listen, compromise, and strengthen one another without losing their individuality. Like bronze, which resists the wear of time while developing a beautiful patina, marriage grows deeper and more luminous with the years. The bronze anniversary is a tribute to this subtle alchemy between two people who have chosen to walk through life together — not despite the challenges, but enriched by them.

Eye of the Sea Necklace
Eye of the Sea Necklace, with an aquamarine – a gemstone from the beryl family for the 23rd wedding anniversary

23 years: Beryl wedding anniversary

Beryl is a precious stone encompassing various gems of recognized beauty and properties, such as emerald, aquamarine, morganite, heliodor, and goshenite. This diversity symbolizes the richness of the emotions, stages, and transformations a couple experiences over the years. After 23 years together, the marriage has taken on many shades — sometimes soft, sometimes intense, but always valuable. Beryl represents the strength of the relationship, its clarity, fidelity, and depth. It is a stone of balance and growth, mirroring a love that has evolved, renewed itself, and deepened through time, trials, and shared joys.

24 years: Satin wedding anniversary

Satin, a luminous and fluid fabric, evokes the gentleness, intimacy, and discreet elegance of a love that has matured gracefully. After 24 years, the relationship has refined itself — it no longer needs to dazzle, but charms through comfort, tenderness, and understated softness. Satin symbolizes a peaceful, flowing, and refined connection, where gestures are gentler, glances more meaningful, and silences more eloquent. It also represents the quiet beauty of shared routines and the joy found in the smallest yet most essential things. By this point, the couple has woven a bond of familiar gestures and mutual respect — as smooth and resilient as this precious fabric.

25 years: Silver wedding anniversary

The silver anniversary marks a major milestone in a couple’s journey. Silver, a noble and luminous metal without being ostentatious, symbolizes purity, durability, and loyalty. Its resistance to time and corrosion reflects a relationship that has faced trials and grown stronger through them. After 25 years together, the bond is both solid and luminous — a true jewel forged through experience.
This stage often coincides with life transitions: children may leave the family nest, the couple enters their fifties, and some become grandparents. Silver anniversaries celebrate not just the years spent together, but also the opening of a new chapter filled with maturity, deep complicity, and renewed dreams.
Most of our jewelry is crafted in sterling silver. We warmly invite you to explore our collection and discover our artisanal expertise, shaped with passion and attention to detail.

Song of the Cicadas Pendant
Song of the Cicadas Pendant, with jade – symbol of the 26th wedding anniversary

26 years: Jade wedding anniversary

Jade, a stone revered for millennia in Asia for its spiritual and protective qualities, symbolizes wisdom, harmony, and longevity. Its gentle green hue evokes hope, renewal, and balance. At this point in marriage, the couple has reached a form of inner stability — a mutual trust that grows stronger each day.
Jade also represents resilience — the ability to withstand tensions without breaking, to regenerate without losing its shine. It is associated with prosperity, patience, and sincere love. To celebrate a jade anniversary is to honor a love that is rooted, deep, and sustained by lasting mutual respect.

27 years: Mahogany wedding anniversary

Mahogany is a precious wood admired for its natural beauty, density, and longevity. Often used in the making of fine furniture, musical instruments, and works of art, it reflects refined craftsmanship. In the context of marriage, it symbolizes a robust and elegant union grounded in durability.
Its warm tone — ranging from reddish-brown to deep brown — evokes the warmth of lasting affection and passion. Its fine, even grain mirrors the subtle harmony between two individuals who have learned to know and appreciate each other in the smallest details.
Like the mahogany tree, which grows slowly but sturdily, developing deep roots and a strong trunk, love after 27 years is seasoned, steady, and refined. It weathers storms, retains its beauty, and becomes more precious over time. It is a celebration of strength, sophistication, and deeply rooted passion.

Song of the fireflies peridot earrings
Song of the fireflies peridot earrings – associated with the 28th wedding anniversary

28 years: Nickel wedding anniversary

Nickel is a metal known for its resilience, durability, and bright sheen. Beyond its industrial image, it represents a relationship that has kept its shine over the years. It resists tarnishing, making it a fitting symbol of a love that hasn’t faded with time.
Strong yet flexible, nickel is also malleable — like a couple who has spent 28 years together, adapting to life’s shifts, challenges, and joys. This anniversary highlights the tenacity of the bond — its resistance to the wear of daily life, and the steady inner glow it maintains.
We do not directly use nickel in our jewelry, in accordance with European regulations limiting its use to prevent allergies. However, nickel occurs naturally in trace amounts in several minerals, contributing to green hues in stones such as peridot, gaspeite, serpentine, chrysoprase, certain green agates, and magnesite. In these cases, nickel acts as a natural coloring agent, giving these gems their botanical palette — from pale to vivid greens — often linked to qualities of freshness, renewal, and balance.

29 years: Velvet wedding anniversary

For 29 years, your relationship has balanced strength and gentleness — like an iron hand in a velvet glove. Velvet, a sumptuous and soft fabric, perfectly reflects the qualities of a lasting bond: elegance, tenderness, and quiet strength.
Beneath its softness lies surprising resilience. Velvet is sturdy despite its plush texture — a mirror of a couple’s ability to navigate life’s roughness with grace.
Etymologically, “velvet” comes from the Latin villosus, meaning “covered in hair.” Its upright and tightly packed threads give it its signature texture. Depending on how the fibers catch the light, its tone subtly shifts — much like the two partners in a relationship, who preserve their individuality while harmonizing beautifully.
Made from cotton, silk, wool, hemp, or jute, velvet symbolizes the richness of shared textures and experiences. It is a comforting material — a metaphor for a mature love that has become a refuge and a strength.

Water Chestnut Flower Earrings
Water Chestnut Flower earrings, with pearls – symbol of the 30th wedding anniversary

30 years: Pearl wedding anniversary

The pearl anniversary marks three decades of love patiently polished by time, like a pearl formed slowly, layer after layer, within the protective shell of an oyster. This symbol evokes the depth, patience, and beauty of a love built with care.
Like the two valves of an oyster shell, your paths have closed tightly over the years, protecting a precious jewel within: your union, unique and irreplaceable.
Pearls also stand for the purity of feelings, the sincerity of commitment, and the gentle light that emanates from an authentic relationship. Rare, refined, and sometimes discreet, pearls — like enduring love — are treasures that grow more valuable with time.
Celebrating a pearl anniversary means honoring a love enriched by experience and shared trials, a love that has become a treasure.

31 years: Tanned sheepskin (Basane) wedding anniversary

The word "basane" refers to a supple leather made from sheepskin, tanned using natural plant-based substances such as tannins extracted from certain barks. Originally from the Middle East, this leather has been used for centuries to craft fine bookbindings, boxes, furniture coverings, and even—long ago—to store dried foods like dates and apricots.
Basane is a noble and singular material, appreciated for its flexibility, its warmth, and its natural irregularities—marks, veins, and color variations that give it a raw, authentic charm.
It’s a fitting symbol for a 31-year relationship: love that has shaped itself over time, embracing trials, differences, and imperfections. Just as basane reveals its beauty through its textures, your relationship has found richness in adaptability, resilience, and enduring tenderness. Soft yet resilient, this leather also evokes the comfort of deep intimacy forged through the years.

Fire Rose ring
Fire Rose copper ring for the 32nd wedding anniversary

32 years: Copper wedding anniversary

Copper is a warm, malleable, and radiant metal, its reddish hue evoking passion, energy, and vitality. Used since ancient times, copper is associated with protection, energy transmission (both in electricity and in alchemical symbolism), and lasting strength.
In a relationship, copper represents a love that glows with warmth, a bond still very much alive despite the passing decades. Like this metal that shines when cared for, your relationship thrives on attention, affection, and creativity. Left untended, copper tarnishes—just as a marriage can lose its sparkle without nurturing.
The copper anniversary is an invitation to rekindle affection, to tend to your complicity, and to celebrate the flame that still burns and can light your days anew. It’s a gentle yet essential reminder: like copper, love retains its full value when kept alive through care and devotion.

We have designed several copper jewelry pieces you can find in our collection. This warm-toned metal, with its reddish glow and natural sheen, is admired for its raw beauty and deep roots in the decorative arts. Beyond its metallic use, copper is also a key component in many gemstones. It gives distinctive color to minerals such as cuprite, malachite, chrysocolla, turquoise, and sunstone, creating deep greens and rich blues. Even when not visible as a metal, copper remains deeply connected to the mineral world of jewelry.

33 years: Porphyry wedding anniversary

Porphyry is a dense, volcanic rock known for its hardness and deep colors—often purple or dark red. Since ancient times, it has been associated with royalty and grandeur: used in Egypt, Rome, and Byzantium for columns, imperial sarcophagi, and palace floors.
A symbol of power, endurance, and dignity, porphyry mirrors the strength of a marriage that has lasted 33 years. Like this rock shaped by fire and time, your union is built on solid foundations, resistant to life’s tremors.
While youthful passion may have softened over time, it hasn't vanished. This anniversary is a chance to reignite the heart’s fire, to rediscover the quiet power of a love that has already weathered much—and still holds so much more. Like porphyry, your bond remains profound and full of depth.

Earth's Eye necklace
Earth's Eye necklace with amber for the 34th wedding anniversary

34 years: Amber wedding anniversary

Amber is often said to "carry the memory of the world." This organic gemstone, formed from fossilized tree resin, is both light and time crystallized. It sometimes contains traces of a long-lost world—ancient insects, leaves, or air bubbles suspended for millions of years.
To celebrate an amber anniversary is to honor shared memory: the layered recollection of tender gestures, spoken words, and daily companionship. Amber embodies the warmth of a preserved love, golden with time, softened and luminous.
Just as resin protects and preserves, your relationship has weathered the years while keeping the essence of your bond alive. Amber also symbolizes peace, wisdom, and the ability to transform old wounds into inner beauty.
At 34 years of marriage, it is the intimate glow of your shared story that shines—subtle, yet precious.

Oriental Rose earrings
Oriental Rose earrings with ruby for the 35th wedding anniversary

35 years: Ruby wedding anniversary

The ruby anniversary celebrates 35 years of love and loyalty. With its deep red color, the ruby represents fiery passion, strength, and the longevity of commitment. What color comes to mind when we speak of love and desire? Fiery red, of course—and in the mineral world, no other gem captures that intensity like the ruby.
Since antiquity, this stone has symbolized heart energy and inner fire. Hindus called it ratnaraj, the “king of precious stones,” believing it protected sincere emotions. Solid, pure, and captivating, the ruby reflects a love that has endured unchanged through the years.
Ruby is also said to rekindle passion—some traditions even believe it stimulates circulation and desire. Wearing one is a way of celebrating the flame that still flickers after all these years, waiting to flare up again.
This vibrant red, a symbol of shared happiness, crowns 35 years of faithful, deeply rooted love with brilliance.

36 years: Muslin wedding anniversary

In many cultures, muslin is used in ceremonial veils and sacred garments. It often symbolizes the connection between the human and the divine—a reminder that marriage is also a spiritual union.
This year, your anniversary is marked by tenderness, delicacy, and sensuality.
Airy and nearly weightless, muslin evokes the lightness of sincere emotions and the gentleness of shared gestures. Its transparency lets light filter through—just as the years allow the depth of your bond to shine through, woven day by day with care.
Used in wedding gowns and fine fabrics, muslin—whether silk or cotton—slips through the fingers like a whisper of love. After 36 years of marriage, it invites caresses, recalls that first embrace, and promises renewed tenderness.
It reminds us that in long-lasting unions, it’s often the smallest gestures and quiet attentions that keep the magic alive.

Origami ring
The Origami ring to evoke paper, the symbol of the 37th wedding anniversary

37 years: Paper wedding anniversary

Paper, both delicate and resilient, represents the evolving nature and quiet strength of a love that has lasted nearly four decades. Thin paper to symbolize the fragility of feelings—reminding us never to take love for granted.
But paper is more than fragile: it’s a vessel of memory, transmission, and creation. It holds handwritten love letters, shared journal pages, and cherished photo albums. Over time, it yellows, weathers—but retains the imprint of lived moments.
Like a couple, paper bends without breaking, can be crumpled, then smoothed with care. This year, your love is celebrated in the spirit of simplicity, tenderness, and the quiet legacy of shared memories—as if turning the pages of a book written together.
We do not offer paper jewelry on our website, but we’ve explored the theme of origami—the Japanese art of paper folding—in several of our creations.
Among them is the “Origami” ring, which echoes the purity and elegance of folded shapes, and another piece titled “The Legend of the Thousand Cranes,” inspired by a tradition in which a thousand paper cranes are said to grant a wish.

38 years: Mercury wedding anniversary

Mercury, the winged messenger of the gods in Roman mythology, represents communication, fluidity, and quick intelligence. It is also the only metal that is liquid at room temperature—mysterious, reflective, and ever-shifting.
It symbolizes adaptability, resilience, and the luminous flow of a relationship that has kept its energy alive over time.
Mercury’s elusive nature reminds us that love is never static—it evolves, adjusts, finds new paths. It represents a couple’s ability to adapt to change, navigating life’s cycles with grace and unity.
Historically used in measuring instruments, mercury indicated temperature, pressure, and fluctuations. Like a couple after 38 years, it senses, anticipates, and harmonizes to maintain balance.
This anniversary, full of nuance, honors the subtlety of connection, the shifting tides of emotion, and the radiant beauty of a bond that still flows brightly between two attuned hearts.

39 years: Crêpe Fabric wedding anniversary

From the Latin crispus, crêpe is a fabric made by twisting and texturizing fibers to create a slightly rippled, grainy surface. Especially valued in haute couture and bridal gowns, silk crêpe is admired for its fluid drape, elegant hold, and tactile refinement.
It represents softness and delicacy, but also the capacity to adjust without losing shape.
Its surface, subtly irregular, mirrors the texture of married life—the small bumps, knots, and surprises a couple learns to embrace together.
As years pass, the ties woven together become stronger and more meaningful.
The crêpe anniversary, marking 39 years of marriage, pays tribute to the resilience and flexibility of mature love. Beneath its delicate appearance lies a subtle strength, much like a relationship that, through trials, has retained its grace, harmony, and deep companionship.

40 years: Emerald wedding anniversary

The emerald, a precious gemstone of intense green, symbolizes the depth, stability, and rarity of a love that has lasted four decades. Since antiquity, it has been associated with fidelity, emotional wisdom, and the renewal of the heart. Cleopatra is said to have worn emeralds as talismans of love and clarity, believing they enhanced emotional insight.
As a symbol of constant renewal, the emerald represents enduring love, enriched by experience and mutual understanding. Like this gem, which often contains natural inclusions known as “gardens” that don’t detract from its beauty but tell its story, a couple celebrating 40 years carries the rich marks of a shared journey.
Emerald anniversaries reflect a love that is precious, time-forged, deeply rooted in trust, and radiant with inner light—like the gemstone itself, admired for both its rarity and its profound meaning.

41st anniversary: Iron wedding (Iron Anniversary)

Like this rare and precious metal, your love has withstood the decades without losing its strength, combining endurance with finesse, stability with forward momentum.

We do not work with solid titanium in our jewelry, but this metal is naturally present in several of the gemstones we use. Titanium can influence a stone's color and optical effects—for instance, it is responsible for the star effect in star sapphires and contributes to the rich blue of sapphires and the red hue of rubies when combined with chromium. It also appears as needle-like inclusions in rutilated quartz, forming stunning golden or silver filaments known as "Venus hair." Traces of titanium may also be found in stones such as blue agate, Botswana agate, and green tourmaline, where it contributes to their nuanced colors depending on the stone’s composition.

We do not create jewelry from solid zinc, but this metal is sometimes found in the alloys we use, such as brass in some of our pieces. Zinc also occurs naturally in several semi-precious stones, notably smithsonite—a zinc carbonate known for its soft and translucent colors—as well as in minerals like rhodonite, serpentine, and rhodochrosite, where it can be present in trace amounts. These include blue agate, rhyolite, obsidian, chalcedony, petrified wood, mookaite jasper, tiger’s eye, and opal. To mark 85 years of marriage is to salute a love as rare and enduring as this elemental force — a bearer of memory, endurance, and a silent yet untamable power.

Of course, offering uranium itself isn’t practical — or advisable. However, some minerals used in jewelry naturally contain trace amounts of uranium that are safe due to their very low radioactivity and stability.
