JEWELRY
INSPIRATION
Squirrels are among those animals that immediately catch the eye when one is lucky enough to spot them or cross their path. They often appear like a flash, darting across a tree trunk, a trail, or a clearing, and then vanish just as quickly. The squirrel allows very little time for observation, which reinforces its lively and elusive nature. Discreet and fast, it is often associated, in different cultures, with ideas of adaptability, perseverance, and constant movement—qualities first and foremost observed in its natural behavior.
Here, two small squirrels wandering beneath a starry sky gently sway from your ears. Their presence evokes a quiet nocturnal scene, like a fleeting moment stolen from a sleeping forest.
They are set at the center of a diamond-shaped frame, whose sides take the form of decorative braces, giving the impression of an old, ornamental support. This frame recalls walls covered with pictures and objects in cabinets of curiosities, such as those found during the neoclassical, baroque, or Victorian periods, when nature was carefully observed, drawn, and collected.
The silhouette of the squirrels shows their bodies fully extended, as if caught mid-run during a nocturnal race, frozen in silver. Above them appears a small, discreet star, evoking the light of the sky and the mystery of the night. The background of this scene is deliberately darkened through silver oxidation, enhancing the contrasts and reinforcing the silent, nocturnal atmosphere.
