JEWELRY
INSPIRATION
The "Han’i" earrings captivate with their delicate depiction of small Japanese fans. These finely crafted ornaments evoke the grace of geishas, icons of feminine elegance in the Land of the Rising Sun. The Japanese fan, called sensu or ōgi, which inspired these earrings, originated in Japan. It has traveled across time and space, its exotic charm conquering even distant lands in Europe after being introduced via China. Some legends claim that its delicate design was inspired by the graceful wings of bats, adding a mystical and poetic touch to its history.
Within the richness of Japanese culture, the fan unfolds its many meanings. Beyond its practical use for cooling oneself in warm weather, it plays a central role in ceremonies and rituals such as the tea ceremony, where every movement carries deep significance and respect. Yet the fan is also a weapon, skillfully wielded by samurai in the art of combat, demonstrating its versatility and its symbolism of power and mastery.
Over time, the fan became a symbol of sophistication, refinement, and beauty, used by Japanese artists as a canvas for creativity. During the samurai era, it also served as a mark of distinction, allowing artists to win the favor of nobles by offering finely decorated works on this humble yet precious object. Today, the Han’i earrings, made of fine silver, continue this tradition of elegance and refined artistry, capturing the very essence of Japanese grace, culture, and poetry. Their delicate shape and light movement evoke the fluidity of the wind and the dance of the seasons, making this jewel a tribute to Japanese art.
