JEWELRY
INSPIRATION
This silver ring is inspired by the novel The Name of the Rose, Umberto Eco’s masterpiece blending medieval scholarship, mystery, and mysticism. Its name pays tribute to this captivating and unsettling world where knowledge and faith intertwine within the stones of a gothic abbey lost in the mists of the Middle Ages.
Encircling the band is a series of pointed arches, resembling the openings of ogival stained glass windows—a key symbol of gothic architecture. The ogive, the iconic rib of cathedrals, supported soaring vaults while allowing the colorful light of stained glass to pass through. On this ring, these arches are accented with motifs evoking rose windows, the circular designs often found on the façades of great gothic churches.
This design suggests the vertical ascent of the soul, the quest for light, and the mystery of sacred places. It also recalls real locations steeped in memory, such as Fontevraud Abbey, which I personally associate with my childhood memories. The ring carries the austere elegance of ancient stones, the discipline of monastic silence, and the fragile beauty of light filtering through stained glass.
It is intended for those who love stories woven with secrets, art, and architecture, and for enthusiasts of medieval literature and symbolism.
