Marie-Antoinette, baroque flower cameo necklace in silver and mookaite jasper

These poignant words, attributed to Marie-Antoinette in her writings, reflect her vulnerability in the face of a tragic destiny, but also the unwavering fidelity of a heart ready to love despite the pain. We sought to capture this intimate and poetic strength in a baroque-style jewel that is both a tribute to the queen and a timeless symbol of love and memory.

This solid silver necklace was designed as a royal piece, inspired by the precious cameos once worn at court. The chosen stone is a mookaite jasper with deep hues of red, burgundy, and purple, reminiscent of the queen’s vibrant heart, her passion, and her wounds. Carefully polished and lustrous, the jasper evokes the delicacy of the fine porcelains beloved by Marie-Antoinette, as well as the nobility of the earth, bearing memory and strength.

The stone is treated like a flower-cameo: set on a silver plate whose irregular contours follow the shape of petals and leaves, symbolizing both nature and femininity. This choice pays homage to Marie-Antoinette’s love for the Trianon gardens at Versailles, where she sought refuge in a world of greenery and freedom.

On the reverse, the plate is openworked to let light through and reveal the jasper’s inner nuances, like a window into the soul. The queen’s quotation has been hand-engraved, inscribing her words of love and fidelity forever.

The attachment, intentionally rustic, expresses the melancholy and sorrow of her final moments, like a tear frozen in metal. This necklace, both jewel and relic, tells the story of a queen and of a heart that still beats through memory and legacy. A symbol for all who believe in love, dignity, and the strength of the soul.
