Mélusine, serpent scale ring in sterling silver

Step into the enchanting world of Mélusine, a ring whose every detail tells a story steeped in mystery and magic. The very name of this piece evokes the wonder and enchantment of Europe’s forests, a tribute to the enduring power of legends that have traversed the ages.

In Gaulish and medieval mythology, Mélusine embodies the fusion of the human world with the realm of spirits. Feminine and anguiped, her figure ends in a serpent’s tail, a symbol of wisdom, occult knowledge, and transformation. Stories of Mélusine unfold across French regions (Poitou, Alsace, Lorraine, Champagne, Dauphiné, Luxembourg) and Germanic lands, where her enigmatic nature continues to captivate and inspire popular imagination.

Medieval folklore has cemented Mélusine in collective imagination through tales and legends tinged with destiny and mystery. According to tradition, the fairy Pressine, her mother, cursed her for offending their father, King Elinas. Every Saturday, her human appearance transforms: her legs become covered in scales, revealing her true nature. This curse imbues her life with a tragic yet fascinating charm.

The Mélusine ring, with its finely engraved scales, evokes the mystery of transformation and magic. It captures the shimmer of deep waters and the power of ancient tales, making this piece a tribute to medieval legends and the beauty of mysterious stories. Perfect for lovers of history, folklore, and symbolic jewelry, it combines elegance, mystery, and cultural heritage.
