Nehal, triangle mandala earrings in sterling silver

The “Nehal” earrings are delicately crafted in sterling silver, forming a subtle arc — barely a quarter — of a circle taken from a floral mandala. Within this asymmetrical triangle, a lush vegetation unfolds: stylized flowers, overlapping leaves, intertwined stems... every detail speaks of botanical abundance and natural fertility. The base of the triangle is cut following the contours of the leaves, creating an organic, lace-like edge, as if nature itself had sculpted its outline.

From each of the lower leaves dangles a small silver bead, swaying gently with your movements. These metallic droplets evoke the soft and graceful fall of rain — a nourishing rain, life-giving and serene. It is the rain that awakens sleeping seeds, revives jungles, feeds the rivers, and reanimates the hidden forces of the earth.

The mandala, rooted in spiritual traditions from the East, is a symbol of cosmic harmony, a meditative tool guiding the eye and the spirit toward inner balance. These earrings were designed as introspective talismans: they lead you inward, to a sacred retreat in the heart of a dense, secret jungle. There, you may hear the rain falling softly on the leaves, feel it trickle to the earth, or sense its touch on your skin — a purifying rain, gently washing away the burdens of the soul.

We chose the name “Nehal” for this piece — an Indian name with poetic meaning that varies across languages. In Urdu, Hindi, and Punjabi, Nehal can be translated as:
“She who brings the rain” or simply “Rainy”
a metaphor for freshness, renewal, fertility, and life.
A name like a blessing, gently evoking the sacred rain — that which nourishes the earth and calms the heart.

In many traditions, rain is linked to protective feminine deities — guardians of cycles and nature’s hidden mysteries. In India, it is a gift from the heavens, sometimes attributed to divine forces such as Parvati in her nurturing aspect, or Annapurna, goddess of abundance. Elsewhere in the world, similar archetypes emerge: Tlaloc (Central America), Oya (West Africa), or Ixchel, the Mayan goddess of the moon and waters. All of them embody the same idea: rain as mother, healer, force, and initiator. These earrings are a tribute to this fluid, feminine energy — at once celestial and earthly.
