JEWELRY
INSPIRATION
Ojo de Dios is a ring engraved with a Huichol motif, inspired by the artistic traditions of the Mexican tribes of the states of Jalisco, Nayarit, Zacatecas, and Durango. This motif, whose name translates as "eye of God," is originally an object woven with threads of different colors by the Huichols, or as they prefer to call themselves, Wixárika.
The Ojo de Dios motif, also known in the Huichol language as Sikulu or Tsikuri, means "the power to see and hear unknown things." It is believed to represent the god Kauyumari, the blue deer, capable of seeing and understanding all the mysteries of the universe. This symbol takes the form of a diamond composed of bands of different colors, mounted on a cross whose arms are often decorated with tassels. This structure could symbolize the world at the center and the four cardinal points.
According to legend, the Ojo de Dios allows the gods to see through it everything that happens on earth. Traditionally, it is made by the father of the family at the birth of a child, each colored band representing a year of protection.
In our ring, we have adopted the geometric shape of the Ojo de Dios, an aesthetic also found on pre-Hispanic materials such as ceramics, textiles, and building decorations known as Grecian motifs. The ring, crafted in finely crafted silver, captures the essence of this ancestral motif, symbolizing protection, vision, and connection with the universe.
This ring is a tribute to Huichol art and culture. It embodies the spiritual depth and richness of Wixárika traditions, while offering timeless elegance.
