JEWELRY
INSPIRATION
The Ouroboros ring features an Asian-inspired dragon that circles the band in a perfect loop, catching its own tail. This ancient motif has endured across centuries and cultures.
The ouroboros is a universal symbolic figure, depicted as a serpent or dragon biting its own tail, forming an infinite loop. This motif represents the concept of eternal cycles, infinity, and perpetual renewal. It illustrates the cyclical nature of time, where every ending signals a new beginning, embodying hope, regeneration, and the continuity of existence. Yet this symbol also carries an intriguing duality: by consuming itself, the ouroboros evokes self-destruction and dissolution, suggesting that creation and destruction are inextricably linked.
This symbol dates back to antiquity and appears across numerous civilizations worldwide. One of the oldest known representations comes from 16th-century BCE Egypt, where it was associated with the Noun, the primordial ocean, marking the boundary between primordial chaos and the ordered universe. Later, in Greek tradition, it was adopted by alchemists as an emblem of the Great Work, illustrating the perpetual transformation of matter and the soul. It also appears in Norse traditions as the serpent Jörmungandr encircling the world, as well as in Eastern philosophies, where it expresses cosmic balance and the interconnection of opposing forces.
Through this ring, the ouroboros becomes a meaningful piece of jewelry, symbolizing the eternity of life’s cycles and the delicate balance between creation and destruction.
