The Sami, or Sámi, are an indigenous people from a vast region covering northern Sweden, Norway, Finland, and the Kola Peninsula in Russia, known as Lapland. Their culture is rich in spiritual and symbolic traditions, deeply connected to nature and the cycles of life.

The shamanic drum holds a central place in Sami cosmology. Each Sami shaman maintained an intimate relationship with their drum, which they crafted themselves with patience and precision. The symbols engraved on the drum formed a detailed map of the cosmos, guiding the shaman on spiritual journeys through the three levels of the universe.

The Sami drum also represents the world as a whole. At its center is the sun, the source of life and light. Around it, the world is divided into three realms: the upper realm of gods and celestial beings, the middle realm of humans, and the lower realm of the dead and spirits. Each symbol has a specific meaning and tells ancient myths, connecting humans to cosmic and natural forces.

This silver pendant is an accurate replica of a shamanic drum from Lule Lappmark in Sweden. The center depicts the sun, surrounded by the goddess Ahkka, the moon, and other astral figures in the upper realm. The lower section features anthropomorphic and therianthropic figures, reflecting the rich mythology and spiritual life of the Sami.
