Vision, Mexican diamond earrings in sterling silver

Vision is a pair of silver earrings engraved with a traditional Mexican pattern, inspired by the rich cultural, artisanal, and spiritual heritage of Mexico. The central motif is a diamond shape bordered with iridescent triangles — an ancient and sacred geometric design found throughout many Mesoamerican cultures. This symbol appears on ritual objects, buildings, tombs, ceramics, traditional garments, and tapestries — true archives of pre-Hispanic collective memory.

This motif was especially popularized by the Huichol people (or Wixárika) of northern Mexico, known for their visionary and colorful art. It may have been inspired by the diamond-shaped patterns found on the skin of the rattlesnake, a sacred animal associated with the Earth, shamanism, and regeneration. Among the Huichol, this shape is known as the Ojo de Dios — the Eye of God — which inspired the name Vision. In their native language, this mystical eye is called Sikulu or Tsikuri, meaning “the power to see and hear the unknown.” It evokes spiritual insight, expanded consciousness, and ancestral wisdom.

Traditionally, the Eye of God is a protective talisman woven from colored yarn around a wooden cross that represents the four cardinal directions, the elements, or the seasons. The center symbolizes the world, balance, and the axis of the universe. It is closely associated with Kauyumari, the mythical blue deer — a messenger of the gods and guide of shamans, able to travel between the visible and invisible realms. This woven symbol is often made by a father at the birth of his child: each layer or color added marks a year of blessed life, an offering of vision and divine protection.

Beneath the engraved diamond shapes, we’ve added long, hand-hammered silver tassels. Their form echoes the traditional pompoms adorning the Eye of God, while their shimmering texture evokes the play of sunlight on sacred objects carried during Huichol pilgrimages. These tassels sway with the slightest movement, catching the light like a quiet ritual of celebration, adding life, rhythm, and magic to the piece. They embody breath, wind, and flowing energy.

The Vision earrings are a tribute to Mexican culture — a bridge between the visible and invisible, a fragment of sacred art to be worn every day. They symbolize inner vision, spiritual protection, and connection to cosmic forces and ancestral wisdom. By wearing them, you carry a memory older than words, the shamanic power of Huichol art, and the deeply human longing to seek light at the heart of mystery.
