Columbine, love from the language of flowers ring in silver and onyx

The columbine is a delicate and mysterious mountain flower, with many existing varieties. The one that inspired us here is the Black Barlow cultivar, recognizable by its dark, velvety petals of deep violet, almost black in hue.

The Ancolie ring is based on the design of our “Serenity” band, whose geometric engraving evokes a stylized alpine landscape: a double frieze of triangles symbolizing mountain peaks encloses a central line representing a river — the source of life and movement. Within this symbolic scenery, the Black Barlow blooms, transforming the ring into a miniature landscape imbued with meaning.

At the center of the ring sits a small oval black onyx cabochon, echoing the flower’s dramatic color. Onyx, a stone of strength and stability, deepens the emotional intensity of this creation, resonating with a sense of quiet passion.

In the language of flowers, the columbine symbolizes mad love, romantic pain, and longing. It evokes the exhilarating and heartbreaking emotions we feel when a deep love consumes us, yet remains unanswered. It is the dizzying uncertainty of a heart suspended in doubt, the exquisite ache of waiting, and the tragic beauty of those passions that unsettle both body and soul.
