Arktos, blue star earrings in silver and zircon

Arktos is a beautiful pair of earrings made of silver stars, carefully hand-sawn with patience and precision, then set with blue zircon cabochons that recall the soft, flickering sparkle of stars in the night sky. The blue of the zircon evokes the depth of the sky, the cool light of the stars, and the silent beauty of the night.

To illuminate this starry sky, each earring is composed of a small star from which a larger star is suspended. This movement brings lightness and recalls the gentle vibration of stars in the darkness. Each star has 8 branches, a shape often associated with light radiating in all directions.

This pair of earrings takes its name from the Greek word arktos, meaning bear. It is from this word that the name Arctic is derived, the land of great cold and endless nights. Arktos directly refers to the Great Bear constellation, one of the oldest landmarks in the sky.

According to Greek legend, Callisto, a woodland nymph, was loved by Zeus and gave birth to Arcas. Out of jealousy, Hera transformed them into bears. To protect them, Zeus placed them in the sky as the Great Bear and the Little Bear, forever revolving around the North Star.

The Great Bear is considered one of the oldest known constellations. It appears in the stories of many civilizations, from ancient peoples to modern cultures. It is a circumpolar constellation, meaning it remains visible all year round, in every season. It symbolizes constancy, protection, and a reassuring presence in the night.
