Cashmere, Iranian paisley necklace in silver and chalcedony

The "Cachemire" necklace pays tribute to the sumptuous patterns adorning Persian textiles, particularly the iconic paisley motif, also known as boteh in Farsi. This ancient symbol finds its roots in pre-Islamic Persia, where it was woven into the most precious fabrics, especially in the region of Perde. More than mere ornament, it carried deep spiritual and cosmic significance.

The pendant features the distinctive shape of the boteh: a curved drop with a pointed tip, suggesting at once a budding shoot, a rising flame, and a stylized cypress tree. This symbolic form is fused onto a softly undulating silver plate, reminiscent of a cloud of petals or a delicate wisp of mist—like living fabric captured in metal. The finely chiseled outline highlights the poetic elegance of Persian design.

In Iranian culture, the boteh is a richly layered symbol. It represents the eternal flame of Zoroastrianism, the supple sacred cypress of Mithraic tradition, and the very essence of fertility and growth. It unites opposing elements—fire and water, soul and matter, heaven and earth—into a single, flowing form.

At the heart of the pendant lies a light blue chalcedony cabochon, shaped like a dewdrop or a drop of pure water—an image of life’s source. From this gemstone rises a leafy silver stem, like a tender sprout nourished by the celestial droplet, adding a vegetal and vital dimension to the composition. This central motif embodies germination, rebirth, and inner blossoming.

Part spiritual talisman, part poetic evocation of ancient Persia, this necklace weaves together the symbolic power of the boteh and the soothing, dreamlike hue of chalcedony. It speaks of life, cycles, heritage, and inner light.
