JEWELRY
INSPIRATION
The Chiricahua necklace is built around a triangular cabochon of Apache rhyolite, a fascinating stone with enigmatic reflections. Its winding veins in muted rose tones, punctuated by crimson and burgundy spots, evoke the sun-scorched ochre earth of the American Southwest — a land steeped in history and mystery.
The stone is set on a fine sterling silver bezel that closely follows its natural contours without hiding its shape. Solid prongs are positioned around the frame to firmly hold the cabochon in place while allowing it to breathe: even the back of the rhyolite remains visible, revealing the stone in its full integrity — like a raw fragment of memory.
The association with the Apaches came naturally, both from the name of the stone and its visual impact. The red marks in Apache rhyolite echo the ancient pictographs found on cliff faces and cave walls in the desert: rock paintings, symbolic prints, and sacred signs left by the Ancestors to pass on rituals, define sacred land, or honor the hunt. These were more than decorative motifs — they carried the soul of a people, the collective memory of a nation bonded to the earth, to the wind, and to dust.
We chose the name Chiricahua to pay tribute to one of the most resilient Apache groups — a name that still resounds with unbroken bravery. This tribe, native to the highlands of southern New Mexico and the mountains of Arizona, led one of the longest struggles against colonization and cultural erasure.
Among the Chiricahuas were some of the most iconic figures in Native American history: Mangas Coloradas, visionary and feared war chief; Cochise, diplomat and brilliant strategist; Victorio, fierce defender of his people; Geronimo, the most renowned, last great leader to resist American forces;Naiche, his son, and also Lozen and Dahteste, two shamanic warrior women whose courage and intuitive strength left a lasting mark. Their names still echo like chants of freedom, etched into the canyon walls and carried in the memories of their descendants.
Wearing the Chiricahua pendant is not only an homage to a stone with a singular design — it is a tribute to a lineage of resistance, to a people whose wisdom and spiritual strength continue to inspire.
