INSPIRATION
The "Hitomi Small" ring captures the essence of Japanese aesthetics through its wave-inspired motifs. At the heart of Japan’s island culture, the sea is a living force, a symbol of power, resilience, and journey. As a source of energy and transformation, it teaches the art of movement and adaptation in the face of life’s changes. The Hitomi ring celebrates this intimate connection between humans and nature, reminding us that life, like the sea, oscillates between calm and storm.
Its distinctive pattern, called Seigaiha or “blue ocean wave,” has adorned Japanese textiles, ceramics, and folding screens for centuries. This infinite repetition of overlapping concentric circles creates an impression of fluidity and balance. Each wave seems to tell a story of inner peace, serenity, and prosperity. In Japanese culture, this pattern also conveys a wish for lasting happiness and stability.
The name of the ring itself, Hitomi, means “eye” or “pupil” in Japanese, evoking contemplation and perception of the world. It recalls the inner gaze, the one that seeks beauty in simplicity and in the depth of things.
The Hitomi Small ring is a narrower version of the Hitomi ring. Its slim design makes it a delicate piece, perfect for everyday wear, either alone or stacked with other rings. The wider version is also available at the following link.
