Huma, botanical ring in silver and chalcedony

The Huma ring is a handcrafted creation centered around an oval cabochon of deep, captivating purple chalcedony. Crafted with a botanical theme, this ring combines the softness of plant-inspired shapes with the intricate details carved into the silver. The cabochon rests on a plate where two sides delicately follow the contour of the stone, while the other two bloom into a floral and leafy design, resembling a botanical adornment embracing the gem.

Each element of this ring is meticulously crafted. Fine floral and botanical details are soldered onto a silver base, creating a living relief that highlights the design’s elegance. The purple chalcedony, with a hue reminiscent of amethyst, hails from East Java, a region renowned for its deeply luminous stones. This cabochon, with its beautiful size, is enhanced by a patina applied to the metal, accentuating the contrast between the smooth and textured surfaces.

To enhance the design's dynamics, the most elongated part of the ring is adorned with an overlay of leaves with elegant curves, accompanied by small discs reminiscent of round, fleshy fruits. The top of the stone is decorated with a delicate relief of petals, forming an imaginary flower, with each petal outlined by a curved silver wire. In its center, a fine silver ball adds a touch of light, evoking the heart of a blooming flower. The stone is held in place by four triangular prongs, echoing the elongated shape of the petals and enhancing the botanical harmony of the design.

This silver and chalcedony setting evokes vibrant and exotic flowers, particularly the Strelitzia, also known as the Bird of Paradise. These spectacular flowers, with their vivid colors and graceful structure, symbolize freedom, rare beauty, and immortality in the language of flowers. Inspired by this poetic association, we have chosen to name this ring Huma, a Hindi word meaning Bird of Paradise, reflecting the wild elegance and timeless grace of this creation.
