Phaistos, Minoan Phaistos disc pendant in silver and dendritic agate

This custom pendant is inspired by the mysterious Phaistos Disc, one of the greatest archaeological enigmas of the Minoan civilization. Discovered in the early 20th century in the Minoan palace of Phaistos, Crete, this clay disc dates back to the 2nd millennium BCE (Bronze Age) and is adorned with 241 spiral-impressed signs made using stamps. Among them are 45 distinct symbols, the meaning of which remains unknown today. Some interpret it as a prayer, a hymn, or sacred writing; others see it as a decorative artifact. The disc fascinates because it continues to resist definitive translation, remaining a timeless, almost magical enigma.

Our client’s wish was to unite several symbols in a single piece: the infinity symbol, a protective eye, and a portion of the Phaistos Disc. This pendant is thus a bespoke creation, conceived as a personal and unique talisman.

The overall shape mirrors the infinity sign, symbolizing eternity and the endless cycle of life. On the upper disc, a translucent dendritic agate cabochon is set. Its milky clarity, marked by a black inclusion at its center, evokes an eye, a spiritual and protective guardian. The area beneath the setting is decorated with a series of small engraved discs and a central heart, reflecting the human and emotional dimension that links infinity to universal love.

The lower disc features a faithful reproduction of a portion of the Phaistos Disc, serving as a portal to the mysteries of ancient Crete and its forgotten gods. The dendritic agate, a stone of patience and grounding, completes the pendant, connecting the visible and invisible worlds, the rational and the sacred, the earth and eternity.

This pendant embodies history, mystery, and the uniqueness of a custom order, transformed into a meaningful talisman.
