Tachiwaki, Japanese steam ring in sterling silver

Our Japanese "Tachiwaki" ring features a traditional motif of the same name, which means "rising steam." The two wavy lines engraved on the ring represent steam gracefully ascending toward the sky. Due to its delicacy and complexity, this motif was once reserved for the kimonos of high-ranking individuals, symbolizing prestige and sophistication.

In this design, the Tachiwaki motif is combined with a central cloud, forming a new pattern called "kumotatewaku." This combination poetically evokes the mist rising over marshes, ponds, and waterways in spring. This morning steam, known as "kiri" in Japanese, envelops the landscape in a gentle, mysterious lightness, like a quiet breath of nature and calm.

The Tachiwaki motif symbolizes not only the elevation of the spirit but also resilience and the ability to overcome challenges, much like steam slowly but surely rising toward the sky. The "Tachiwaki" ring captures the subtle and ephemeral beauty of misty Japanese landscapes.
