Flight at Twilight earrings belong to a series of creations inspired by the birds of Europe and the Americas. They are part of our everyday environment, yet we often pay little attention to them. And yet, when we are reflecting, contemplating, or meditating, our eyes often turn toward them. These small winged creatures have much to teach us despite their modest size and the discreet place they occupy in our world. Throughout history, birds have symbolized freedom, observation, adaptability, and the connection between earth and sky.

These earrings are a tribute to the great owls. Here, the silhouette of the bird in full flight appears to be swooping down upon its prey, talons stretched forward. The raptor is soldered onto a silver arch, like a discreet window opening onto the wild world. Between the sides of the arch, a setting sun or rising full moon in brass reminds us that these birds leave their shelter at twilight to begin their nightly activities. This special hour, suspended between day and night, has long been associated with mystery, transformation, and unseen worlds.

Suspended from the arch are small moss agate beads, like tiny fragments of the forest, gently swaying with every movement. They are accompanied by a small oak leaf symbolizing the forest, the kingdom of owls and woodland creatures. With its natural inclusions resembling moss, ferns, or miniature landscapes, moss agate reinforces the woodland and untamed spirit of the jewel.

The owl holds a special place in many traditions. Thanks to its exceptional night vision and silent flight, it is often seen as a guardian of secrets and a symbol of wisdom, intuition, and hidden knowledge. In many European cultures, it is associated with the ability to see what escapes others and to move through times of transition with insight and clarity.

These earrings are also a tribute to Celtic legends. For the Celts, the owl is closely linked to Blodeuwedd, the mythical goddess created from the flowers of broom, meadowsweet, and oak. Punished for betraying her husband, she was transformed into a bird of the night. The owl thus became a symbol of hidden beauty, metamorphosis, transition, and personal transformation. Its feathered “horns” also made it a symbol of spiritual royalty over the underworld and the secrets of winter.

The small oak leaf we have suspended directly echoes this legend, as Blodeuwedd was partly created from oak blossoms. When she became an owl, the connection between the bird and the tree was forever sealed by myth. A design combining an owl with oak leaves or acorns immediately evokes this story of transformation, sacred nature, ancient magic, and hidden wisdom.

Through this jewel, we sought to capture that suspended moment when day slowly fades into night, when owls leave the silence of the forest and take flight. Between woodland landscapes, twilight, Celtic legends, and wild nature, these earrings celebrate the mystery of the living world and the ancient stories that continue to inspire our imagination today.
