JEWELRY
INSPIRATION
The Kikko ring is a silver piece inspired by the ancestral Japanese kikkô motif, representing the hexagonal scales of the turtle. This ancient symbol, rich in wisdom and longevity, embodies patience, perseverance, and quiet strength — values deeply rooted in Japanese culture.
The band’s engraved frieze evokes the protective shells of turtles, creatures revered in Japan for centuries as messengers of good fortune and guardians of stability. Every detail reflects artisanal skill passed down through generations, a tribute to the precision and beauty of Japanese metalwork.
The regular arrangement of the motifs creates an almost hypnotic symmetry, reminiscent of honeycomb cells. This perfect geometry evokes both the turtle’s protection and the natural order of the world. The analogy with bees highlights the importance of collective work and solidarity, two essential virtues in Japanese society.
The kikkô motif, found in textiles, armor, and wedding ceremonies, symbolizes the turtle’s blessing, wishing happiness, longevity, and balance to the united couple. It reminds us that true strength lies in constancy and silent wisdom.
At the center of each hexagon blooms the macre flower, also known as the water chestnut flower, an aquatic plant flourishing in Japan’s ponds and marshes. A symbol of integrity and courage, it was cherished by samurai, who saw in it the image of noble spirit and purity of heart. Its presence on the Kikko ring connects elegance with inner strength, reminding that true nobility arises from resilience and dignity in the face of challenges.
The Kikko ring is also available in a narrower version called Kikko Hanabishi, featuring a single row of the Japanese motif instead of two.
