Koï, Japanese koi carp ring in silver

The koi fish comes from Asia. It is a river fish who used to live in paddy fields. You can often see this fish in ponds in the Far East because it is a popular ornamental fish due to its red, white, black and yellow colors. In Asia, koi fish is a symbol of love and virility, a beautiful poem, isn’t it? They also symbolize strength and perseverance when they show us how they go up the river against the current in Japanese rivers and cascades.

According to the legend, after going up the current, koi fishes would fly to the sky transforming themselves in dragons: this legend would explain the kites children like to fly  in the sky. Koi fish is also a very quiet and calm animal and often brings calmness and some Zen attitude to its owner: a bit of calmness in our daily life is something I actually appreciate a lot.
