Tuareg, African ethnic tribal ring in silver and brass

The “Tuareg” ring is a custom creation inspired by the ornamental traditions of the Tuareg people, nomads of the Sahara Desert spread across several North African countries, including Mali, Niger, and Algeria.

Fascinated by African art and the rich graphic heritage of Saharan jewelry, our client wanted this ring to evoke the traditional ornaments of the Tuareg. These often silver pieces feature powerful geometric motifs that are both symbolic and decorative.

This wide ring displays a band engraved with successive panels: it includes crescent moons on a striped background, symbolizing lunar cycles and their importance in nomadic life, as well as a stylized “x” shaped cross, whose arms frame diamond shapes. This motif is a variant of the typical Tuareg cross known as the “Agadez cross” or “Southern cross.” It is highlighted by a brass sphere placed at its center. This golden detail recalls the warmth of the sun and the color of desert sand.

The contrast between silver and brass adds strong visual impact while maintaining a raw, handcrafted spirit deeply rooted in Saharan culture. Every element of this ring pays tribute to nomadic life, sacred geometry, and the austere beauty of the Tuareg universe.
