Little baobabs, Little Prince tree earrings in sterling silver

These earrings were designed and inspired by the extraordinary story of The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, and by the image of his planet threatened by the baobab trees.

"Baobabs, before they grow big, start out by being little."
"There are seeds of baobabs on all planets... But when a baobab grows too big, it's too late. You can never get rid of it. It takes over the whole planet. It even bursts it apart."

And the Little Prince was right…

Baobabs begin as tiny, indistinguishable sprouts—just like the good plants. If you don’t watch out, they silently grow until they overrun the Little Prince’s planet and make it explode. This powerful metaphor represents the small worries, harmful habits, or negative thoughts we neglect for too long. They are tiny but tenacious threats, and once rooted, they can become overwhelming—even destructive.

Each morning, the Little Prince pulls out the young baobab shoots. This simple act is actually a symbolic ritual of inner vigilance. It illustrates the importance of daily care, of being constantly mindful of what we nurture inside ourselves and around us. It’s a call to responsibility, clarity, and gentle discipline—a reminder that we are each the guardian of our own planet, whether emotional, personal, or relational.

Saint-Exupéry called them "hidden catastrophes." In the historical context of World War II, the baobabs also took on a darker meaning: they symbolized toxic ideologies, hatred, and intolerance—everything that can grow in silence and spread when we turn away.

At the same time, these trees are majestic, almost mythical. Their massive shape evokes the way personal or collective tragedies can emerge from faint shadows and grow into devastation if left untended.

We have delicately carved these baobab silhouettes in sterling silver. These little trees hanging from your ears are a poetic reminder of the Little Prince’s message: what we neglect can grow in silence—and what we tend to with love can preserve the beauty of our world.
