The Little Prince’s volcano, emotions through Saint-Exupéry’s eyes necklace in silver

"The Little Prince’s Volcano" necklace is a unique piece, imagined as a personalized variation of our "The Little Prince’s Planet" pendant. Here, a single element has been highlighted: the volcano. More than a simple decorative feature, this silver volcano becomes the symbolic heart of the jewel, evoking the power of emotions, the vigilance of the heart, and the responsibility of affection.

In Saint-Exupéry’s tale, the Little Prince explains that he has three volcanoes on his tiny planet: two active and one extinct. He takes care of them regularly, cleaning them each morning in a quiet act of daily attention. One of them even serves to warm his breakfast. Before leaving his planet, he makes sure to clean the volcanoes one last time, knowing that neglect could lead to an eruption.

This simple gesture takes on a deeper meaning: it represents how we must tend to our emotions, our anger, and our inner impulses, so they do not overwhelm us. The Little Prince gently observes that on Earth, people are too small to clean their volcanoes, and so they let chaos erupt. Through this metaphor, Saint-Exupéry invites us to nurture constant awareness of what lives within us, lest we be carried away by it.

The back of the pendant is hand-engraved with one of the book’s most famous quotes: “What is essential is invisible to the eye.” A universal phrase, bearing a quiet truth about inner vision, the depth of human connection, and the tenderness in caring for others.

This necklace is a tribute to the poetic wisdom of Saint-Exupéry, and to his vision of emotion as an inner volcano—beautiful, fragile, powerful, and in need of being acknowledged and gently tamed.

Metal: sterling silver (925)
