Shinju, spring awakening pendant in silver, pearl, and aventurine

The Shinju pendant is a creation inspired by the botanical rebirth of spring. It pairs a cultured pearl with a lemon green aventurine in a composition that celebrates nature, growth, and the gentle renewal of the season.

Set on an irregular silver base, whose organic contours evoke the free, spontaneous shapes of plant growth, lies an elongated oval aventurine. Its luminous lemon-green hue is reminiscent of the very first shoots that pierce the freshly thawed earth—tender, vibrant, and full of promise. It is held in place by two triangular prongs shaped like leaves, embracing it gently like a fragile new sprout emerging from winter's slumber.

Beside it, a small round cabochon of cultured pearl is delicately set. Its soft cream color evokes the heart of a flower just beginning to bloom—a pale, hesitant center, not yet tinged with the deep yellow of a full daisy in bloom. Around it, one can almost glimpse the faint outline of petals, still curled inwards, waiting patiently for their time to unfold.

The rest of the pendant is adorned with small silver half-spheres, like unopened buds—symbols of blossoms yet to come. The bail is made from twisted wire, recalling intertwined stems reaching eagerly for the light—a metaphor for spring’s irrepressible energy.

We named this piece Shinju, a Japanese word meaning “genuine pearl.” The term carries a deep symbolism of purity, femininity, and natural elegance. It also reflects the rarity and quiet beauty of this delicate, luminous moment: the awakening of spring.
