Sompaïna, mother earth’s rainbow pendant in silver and imperial jasper

The Sompaïna pendant is inspired by a delicate balance between mineral strength and vegetal softness. It features a drop-shaped imperial jasper whose shimmering hues evoke a rainbow not formed in the sky, but in the very depths of the Earth. Its subtle colors, ranging from pale pink to deep burgundy, interwoven with light to dark greens, seem to radiate from a central line like a gentle light blooming from the heart of matter.

This jasper, through the tenderness of its tones, embodies a kind of telluric calm: it invites rest, grounding, and a serene connection to the natural world. One might see in it a poetic gesture by the Earth attempting to mirror the sky, drawing its own rainbow in stone. This image resonates with ancestral representations of Mother Earth—a universal symbol of fertility, generosity, and renewal found in many traditions, from Greco-Roman myths to Andean or Asian cosmogonies.

We set the stone on a silver plate that gently follows its contours, then expands slightly outward. On both sides and just below the base, ornamental extensions take the form of small stylized leaves or petals. These appear to emerge from the jasper, as though it were a wellspring of life, a vegetal heart spreading its silent softness across the world. The silver cradle becomes a symbolic extension of the stone—a fertile, living setting.

The whole piece is suspended from a loop made of twisted silver wire, reminiscent of a climbing plant reaching upward toward the light. This detail adds an additional connection to the plant world, in an ascending movement that links Earth to sky.
