JEWELRY
INSPIRATION
This poetic ring is inspired by Alphonse de Lamartine’s famous poem Le Papillon, whose opening lines resonate as an ode to the ephemeral: “Naître avec le printemps, mourir avec les roses” (“To be born with the spring, to die with the roses”). It is made for enthusiasts and lovers of this fragile and flamboyant lepidopteran, a messenger of light and metamorphosis.
At its center, a pink tourmaline cabochon is set on a round bezel, sparkling like a vibrant heart. Two silver butterflies surround it, as if seeking to sip from this imaginary flower. Small silver beads evoke rosebuds about to bloom, reminding us that beauty is always in the making. The ring has been lightly oxidized to highlight its raw, almost wild character, as if carrying the trace of time.
The band is adorned with small raised ginkgo leaves. The fan-shaped ginkgo leaf spreads its veins like wings. Seen from the side, it resembles a resting butterfly. In Asian art and thought, the ginkgo is sometimes represented as a winged insect, connecting the world of the millennial tree to that of light souls.
The butterfly symbolizes metamorphosis, the soul in journey, and rebirth. The ginkgo, an almost immortal tree, embodies permanence, memory, and resilience. Together, they form a dialogue between the ephemeral and the eternal, between the fragile moment and the infinite that endures.
On the back of the bezel, a line from Lamartine’s poem is engraved, like an intimate secret intended for the wearer of this talisman.
Finally, the pink tourmaline, October’s birthstone, is also known to soothe the heart, attract love, and protect emotions. Paired with the butterflies and ginkgo, it makes this ring a true talisman of love, transformation, and vital strength.
