INSPIRATION
The Marquesan ring celebrates the Polynesian islands, intertwining the fascinating stories of New Zealand, Hawaii, Easter Island, as well as Samoa, Tonga, and French Polynesia. Engraved in silver and adorned with delicate details, it evokes a timeless connection to the ancient traditions and captivating legends of this region of the world.
This ring is engraved with the Marquesan cross motif, a profound symbol. Also known as the "Marquise cross" or "Marquesas cross," this motif, locally called "péké enata" or "peka 'enana," embodies the fusion of the human and the divine. This name translates as "cross with human figures" or "cross of men." The elegant lines of this cross intertwine stylized human figures, forming a cross with soft, harmonious contours.
Beyond its aesthetic beauty, the Marquesan cross is full of symbolism. It evokes the sacred harmony between the fundamental elements of nature—earth, air, fire, and water—and embodies the essential balance for a peaceful existence.
This Marquise ring is available in a larger version in our boutique, called the "Grande Marquisienne." You can also find this model as a wedding band, called the "Tuning Fork."
