The name Clervie that we chose for these earrings comes from Celtic and Welsh origins, meaning “jewel” or “pearl.” This beautiful name perfectly suits these delicate dangling earrings composed of stylized flowers engraved in silver and small faceted moonstone cabochons with a milky white and opaque glow, simply set and gently swaying beneath the floral motifs.
Their soft and misty shine evokes the pale light of the moon in the silence of the night, when nature seems suspended in a moment of calm and mystery. These earrings possess a discreet and poetic presence inspired by ancient Celtic ornaments, wild flowers, and symbols connected to femininity and the natural cycles of life.
The silver plaque is inspired by ancient motifs of broad Celtic origin that survived far beyond the Middle Ages in architecture, metalwork, and jewelry. It could evoke the design of an ancient Celtic brooch, a detail carved into a sacred stone, or an ornament found on doors, stained glass windows, and illuminated manuscripts from medieval civilizations.
This support takes the shape of a four-petaled flower, a motif known as a quatrefoil. The quatrefoil is a very ancient decorative motif used in Gothic, Celtic, and religious art. Its balanced shape symbolizes harmony, the four elements, the four seasons, the four directions, and the natural cycle of life. Its floral appearance also recalls clovers, wildflowers, and ancient gardens.
Within each lobe appears a flower or a floral bud about to bloom. These small engraved flowers evoke birth, renewal, growth, and the intimate connection between ancient civilizations and nature. They recall a time when plants, trees, rivers, and lunar cycles held a sacred place in everyday life and spiritual beliefs.
The floral motif therefore evokes closeness with Mother Nature, but also the fragile beauty of life and the ability of flowers to return every spring despite the winter. The soft and rounded shapes give the earrings an appearance that is at once medieval, botanical, and feminine.
Beneath each motif hangs a moonstone cabochon with a slightly irregular shape. For centuries, moonstone has evoked the mysteries of nocturnal light, the silver reflections of the moon, and the softness of silent nights. Its milky white glow seems to subtly change depending on the light, like a small fragment of the moon captured within the stone.
These earrings evoke a sleeping nature illuminated by moonlight, an ancient garden cradled by silence, or a white flower glowing beneath the stars. They are intended for people drawn to poetic jewelry, ancient symbols, the Celtic world, and stones with mysterious reflections.
The Clervie earrings combine floral softness, medieval heritage, Celtic symbolism, and the soothing light of moonstone. They may evoke femininity, inner calm, daydreaming, sacred nature, and the discreet beauty of ancient legends.
