The Star of Ishtar is an ancient Mesopotamian symbol representing an eight-pointed star associated with Ishtar, also known as Inanna in Sumerian civilizations. Goddess of love, war, justice, fertility, and the stars, she held an important place in the beliefs of the ancient Near East. Connected to the planet Venus, the Star of Ishtar symbolizes the celestial light appearing at sunrise and sunset, like the morning and evening star.
For thousands of years, this star has fascinated people through its sacred geometry and powerful symbolism. It evokes femininity, creative energy, desire, protection, and inner strength. In Mesopotamian temples, Ishtar was associated with the night sky, beauty, and the cycles of life. Her star was often represented on jewelry, seals, and sacred objects.
These beautiful silver earrings are directly inspired by this ancient symbol and take the shape of sacred stars. The first star, which hangs at the earlobe, is composed of an eight-pointed star engraved with small triangles that bring texture and depth to the metal. At the center of this star is set a yellow zircon cabochon whose reflections recall the golden color of stars shining in the night, as well as the light and gentleness of the goddess Ishtar.
Beneath this first star hangs a smaller eight-pointed star, reminiscent of the planet Venus and the celestial bodies that guided travelers through the night sky. Together, they create a mysterious and celestial jewel inspired by ancient Mesopotamian civilizations and the sacred symbols of the ancient world.
