Psyche, loving butterflies ring in silver and pink sapphire

The butterfly is one of the most inspiring insects, a messenger of metamorphosis, lightness, and rebirth—just like the Greek legend of Psyche.

Psyche was a princess of such radiant beauty that men ceased to worship Aphrodite (Venus). Jealous, the goddess sent her son Eros (Cupid) to punish Psyche by making her fall in love with the ugliest of men. Yet Eros himself fell in love with her.

Psyche was led to a marvelous palace where she spent each night with her mysterious husband, whom she was forbidden to see. Urged on by curiosity and the jealousy of her sisters, one night she lit a lamp and discovered that it was Eros himself. A drop of oil fell onto his skin, waking him, and he fled, betrayed.

Thus began Psyche’s long quest: she had to accomplish impossible trials imposed by Aphrodite (sorting seeds, bringing back golden fleece, descending into the Underworld, and more). Thanks to her perseverance and the help of benevolent beings, she succeeded. Finally, Eros, still in love, obtained from Zeus the gift of immortality for her. Psyche then joined the gods of Olympus, and their union was consecrated for eternity.

Psyche is therefore often represented as a young winged woman with butterfly wings, embodying the human soul purified through trials, transformed like a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis, and destined for immortality.

This ring embodies the story of these eternal lovers. The ring’s bezel is formed by two butterflies, delicately curved to follow the band. Their heads meet in an intimate gesture, like an embrace or a lover’s kiss. At the center of their union, a pink sapphire is set on a slightly larger oval base. Around it, fine textured rays evoke the light and vibration of love.

The pink sapphire, a symbol of passion and fidelity, becomes here the seal of their union: it joins the two butterflies in a luminous spark, recalling the indestructible love of Psyche and Eros—an eternal love that endures trials, transcends death, and is reborn in eternity.
