Adeona, ancient Roman architecture earrings in silver and garnet

Adeona” is a pair of silver and garnet earrings inspired by the elegance and ornamental richness of ancient Rome. Roman art, deeply influenced by the natural world, gave great importance to vegetal motifs: stylized foliage, ivy garlands, generous acanthus curves, and braided climbing plants adorned frescoes, columns, and jewelry, all bearing witness to a profound admiration for the vitality and harmony of nature.

These silver earrings adopt the slender silhouette of a leaf with rounded edges, evoking both the refinement of ancient metalwork and the gentle softness of foliage swaying in the Mediterranean breeze. At their center sits a deep red garnet, cut in the shape of a drop—recalling the nourishing water that feeds the plants, or perhaps a tear, or a forbidden fruit, filled with meaning and mystery. The stone is set within a delicate braid of silver wire, a recurring motif in ancient decoration, echoing the interlacing of vines and ivy—symbols of fertility and eternal renewal. Beneath the garnet hangs a small silver sphere, adding a final touch of lightness, like a pearl or a seed about to fall.

Across the silver surface, tiny punched leaves and vegetal engravings complete this miniature landscape, like a secret garden frozen in metal. The deep red of the garnet evokes sacred wine, vital blood, and the ripe fruits of summer, reinforcing a sensual and spiritual bond with nature.

In Roman mythology, Adeona is the protective goddess of those returning home from a journey, especially children. She embodies return, restored safety, and the warm embrace of home after the unknown. The slightly oriental shape of the earrings, with a silhouette inspired by exotic motifs, seems to evoke the distant lands traversed by ancient travelers — the scents of Asia, the sounds of Africa, the silks of the East — all those worlds once connected by the roads of the Roman Empire. These earrings become talismans of wandering and return, of protection and timeless beauty.
