Tesoro Zapoteco, Mexican Zapotec ring in sterling silver

It’s name is Tesoro Zapoteco which means "Zapotec Treasure".

This ring is inspired by the silver one found during the excavation of the famous Tomb 7 of the Zapotec archaeological site of Monte Alban in Oaxaca, Mexico. It dates from the 14th century and forms the largest treasure found in Mexico until today.

It shows a frieze, named Greek in Mexico, formed of spirals and steps in pyramidal form.

This is the type of ring that was worn by the Mixtec kings of the time during major ceremonies.

The ring is engraved with a geometric pattern of Zapotec origin. It probably evokes water and movement through its spirals, as well as life in stairway representations. Tradition often brings this Zapotec motif closer to an evocation of the serpent, a symbol of water and fertility.

Polished. Shiny finish.

The band is 8 mm large (0.315 inches).

This is a custom order. Please, specify your ring size when you order it. Thanks!

Thickness of the ring: this model can be made with thicknesses of 1 mm, 1.3 mm or 1.6 mm. For reference, go to the last photo of the slideshow.

The ring thickness on the model is 1mm.

Important: depending on your finger size, the solder at the back of your ring will show an interruption in the pattern with a plain vertical and in order to keep an overall harmony. Each rind is custom made and each finish will also be custom made (please refer to the example picture at the end of the photo series).
